Vanessa's Priorities

 A strong foundation in literacy is essential for academic success. Vanessa will work tirelessly to implement policy-targeted changes that address literacy challenges early on, providing additional support to students who need it. Focusing on individualized learning plans and early intervention can boost literacy rates and ultimately improve graduation rates.  

 Recognizing the importance of diverse educational pathways, Vanessa will champion expanding and enhancing Career & Technical Education programs. These programs provide students with valuable skills and practical knowledge, preparing them for success in the workforce and ensuring they are well-equipped for various high-paying career opportunities. Vanessa is committed to fostering an educational environment that broadens horizons and opens doors to lucrative and fulfilling professional paths for our students. 

  Ensuring our students' and staff's safety and security is a top priority. To create a secure learning environment, Vanessa will advocate for comprehensive safety measures, including updated security systems, emergency preparedness training, and collaborative efforts with local law enforcement.  

 As a small business owner, Vanessa understands the significance of responsible budgeting. As your School Board Member, she will advocate for a fiscally responsible approach to the school budget, specifically focusing on reducing wasteful spending. Vanessa is committed to allocating funds efficiently and effectively, prioritizing reducing unnecessary expenses and directing resources toward the classrooms. By streamlining expenditures and strategically managing the budget, we can maximize the educational impact on students, providing them with the quality education they deserve while reducing financial waste. 

 Our teachers are the backbone of our education system, and retaining and recruiting the best educators is crucial. Vanessa will advocate for competitive compensation packages, professional development opportunities, and a supportive work environment to attract and retain dedicated teachers. By investing in our educators, we invest in the future success of our students.  

 Parents play a vital role in a child's education, and Vanessa is committed to empowering parents to participate actively in their child's learning journey. Vanessa will support initiatives that enhance communication between parents and schools, provide resources for parental involvement, and ensure that parents have a voice in decision-making processes that affect their children's education.
